>> Lesbians Incorporated has recommenced its community grants scheme - Applications are Now Open!
Grants of up to $1000 each are available for lesbians and lesbian-based or lesbian-friendly organisations across Australia working on projects that support lesbians.

“The nation-wide survey we conducted last year confirmed that lesbians value the community grants scheme and want it to continue. The re-activated scheme will particularly target groups who have not benefited strongly from previous grants. Also in response to results of the survey, applications can now be submitted online.” (Deb Hayes, LInc Committee member)

Since 2000, the community grants scheme has supported good ideas from lesbians across Australia. Previous grant recipients include community support group Muslims Against Homophobia, multi-platform music & arts festival GRRL FEST, and Indigenous and Fijian activists attending the Queer Provocations Festival in Sydney.

"We got the funding to cover the expenses for our float at Mardi Gras Parade in 2016. Without the funding, it would have been too hard to find enough money & participate in the parade," says Alice Aslan of Muslims Against Homophobia. "We had a great time at the parade thanks to the funding from LInc."

The current round of grant applications is open from 1st of March to 31st of March. Future rounds will be in June and October of this year.

Applications are encouraged that support those who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, lesbians with disabilities, lesbians from non-English speaking backgrounds and lesbians in non-metropolitan communities.

We are looking for Multicultural Queer Performers to participate at the event.

Dancers, Drag, Music and any other form of art expression is very welcome. The idea is to offer an space where Multicultural LGBTI people can celebrate and share their culture with other peers. We are charging a $10 fee to help the performers with transport and pay for a DJ.

CANADA, Nova Scotia: On 15 February 2018, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeals overturned the conviction of an HIV-positive man Claude Allan Thompson who failed to disclose his condition to sexual partners. Justice Duncan Beveridge wrote for the three-member appeal panel ''Failure by a sexual partner to disclose that he or she has a sexually transmitted disease is morally reprehensible, but it is not usually a crime''.
