Apparently it’s too much to ask that the supposedly accessible route doesn’t have stairs/that curb ramps aren’t blocked by barricades. Had to have police help me get to various places and finally reached our friends and then left because a woman was yelling at me “I’m trying to help you” while verbally abusing me. All I wanted her to do was move over like 5cm for a moment so I could get my chair in position without crushing toes. We struggled to leave because there wasn’t even an accessible way out of that mess and several more times needed cops to help and even had to have one help me down a really steep hill. My friend and I copped so much abuse for being visibly queer and disabled. It was a traumatic and disappointing experience to be very clearly shown that the queer community doesn’t want to include its disabled members.
