Dear all, I thought some of you might be interested in knowing the topic of my PhD: "Sex, Psychiatry and the Cold War: A Transnational History of Homosexual Aversion Therapy, 1948-1977". I'm in the final 6 months of writing and I have all the material I need for my PhD thesis but, as this will be an ongoing and expanding project over the coming years, I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who might have contacts, personal experiences to share, and/or other useful information relating to aversion therapy (about psychiatrists & therapists, patients, hospital staff, activist responses, etc) in the years 1945-1980*, in any country but especially Australia.**

**One of the key figures in my thesis is Dr Neil McConaghy (Sydney) so I have a fair bit of material on him and CAMP, Gay Lib & Women's Lib interactions with him, collected from ALGA, Sue Wills and personal interviews, but the more, the merrier 🙂 The key geographical contexts in my thesis are Czechoslovakia, East Germany, the UK and Australia. ...
